All right, this one comes to up by way of Adam Zyglis. You've got: the republican party, the man awaiting santa- the harbinger of joy. You've got Newt- Santa. with his bag full of, well, baggage. Baggage for the party. Baggage for the presidency. The cartoonist emphasizes gingrich's jowls and piggy eyes (taken to an extreme here in my opinion) and his rather porcine dimensions and look! Santa. He's caricaturing Newt and satirizing the fact that he may look good now but he has a lot of baggage to deal with in the future. Funny.
